Bill and Nancy Kanz, home owners in the American project since 1990, have decided to sell their home and have asked SIBU Sanctuary and Refugio Animales de Nosara, the two members of Nosara Wildlife (www.nosarawildlife.com), to market the property. When the home is sold, the Kanzs will donate the sales commission to the two organizations to support their ongoing projects.
“I have enormous respect and admiration for Bill and Nancy,” says Vicki Coan, founder of SIBU Sanctuary. “We’re very grateful for their generosity and support of our efforts to protect the community’s wildlife.”
Bill Kanz proposed the idea to Vicki and her husband, Steve Coan, because of their mutual commitment to wildlife protection and environmental sustainability. The Coans have actively expressed their dedication to these ideas by developing SIBU Sanctuary, where they have constructed an open-canopy habitat that enables rehabilitated animals to be reintroduced to the wild. They are also soliciting funds to construct a life-term habitat, where animals that cannot survive on their own in the wild can receive quality, lifelong care in a natural environment.
The important, long-standing goal of Brenda Bombard, founder of Refugio Animales de Nosara, has been to establish a wildlife clinic with a full-time veterinarian in residence. Sharing the sales commission on the Kanzs home will enable both organizations to move closer toward the achievement of their goals.
The Kanz home sits on two adjoining lots at the end of a cul-de-sac. It is bordered by 65+ acres of protected land belonging to the American Project. A majestic Guanacaste tree towers over the front yard.
Bill says, “When we came down to look at property in Nosara and were shown this house, we fell in love with its abundant wildlife. Monkeys were everywhere, and privacy was assured as it bordered the Reserve.”
The home is centrally located and only a short walk from the Association’s tennis courts, Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones. Bill and Nancy are looking for a buyer who will continue to protect the area and respect its borders so it will never be sub-divided into smaller lots.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to purchase a quiet Nosara dream home and help local wildlife at the same time.
